    The Shafter City Council rejected a proposal to open the Shafter Aquatic Center's pool this year just for the Shafter High School swim team, so they would be able to practice in their own home pool for the first time in years.     The Shafter High Lady Generals basketball team came away with the Consolation Championship at the Arvin Showcase Tourney this past weekend. Also for the Lady Generals, Alexia Ramirez was selected for the All-Tournament team. Ramirez averaged 19 points a game, 10 rebounds and four assists a game.     The accolades for the Shafter High Generals football team continued as several of the players were bestowed with awards recently. The recipients were led by junior Mariyon Sloan, who was named the South Sequoia League MVP. Sloan stepped into the quarterback position with the absence of Ezekiel Osborn after the second week of the season against Arvin.
