    As they rush me to the emergency room in the ambulance, I wondered how bad my situation was. The fear of not knowing was killing me. How serious was covid affecting me?     Skip came in as a stray. He is approximately a 2-year-old male Pit Bull Terrier Mix, and has a medium apricot/beige short coat length. Skip is slightly timid with strangers, and his behavior will be monitored daily. He is great with other dogs, and he has been tested with large and small dogs.   • Wasco man charged with felony firearm offenses

    A Wasco resident was charged with multiple firearm offenses after a shooting days before. The Kern County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the 1700 block of Poplar Avenue on Jan. 22 at 10:30 a.m. for an unlawful discharged of a firearm.     Kay Millwee was born on June 8, 1938 in Vian, Oklahoma. She moved to Kern County with her mother as a child while in grade school, and she was adopted by Ray Holly Duerksen when he married her mother, Sadie. Kay graduated from Shafter High in 1956. She married Robert Millwee on Feb. 20, 1960 and they were married 38 years before his passing in 1998. They had two children, Jeff in 1966 and Jana in 1971.
