    The Shafter Rotary Club held its annual Bingo Night last week at the Shafter Veterans Hall. The event is one of the main fundraisers of the year, drawing a crowd to compete for prizes donated by a variety of local businesses. There were several gift baskets put together for the event, such as a movie night package and a city of Shafter basket with several Shafter-themed items.     The Shafter Generals winter sports teams are having a great season as a school, with both boys and girls basketball and soccer teams at or near the top of their league standings. The varsity boys basketball team has a 17-7 overall record, with a 6-2 record in the SSL.     Mary "Bebe" (Ohanneson) Anderson, 88, passed away on Dec. 30, 2019, surrounded by family at the Hoffmann Hospice House in Bakersfield. Mary was born on Aug. 23, 1931, in Woodland, Calif., to Philip and Phyllis Ohanneson. The family moved to Shafter in 1934.
