    The coronavirus pandemic has hit close to home with the information this week a teenager living Shafter had tested positive for COVID-19. Joel Herrera, 19, confirmed that he has tested positive for the virus last Thursday, making it necessary to be quarantined for 14 days.     As the amount of COVID-19 cases rises daily, the numbers of positive diagnoses provided by the Kern County Department of Health changes almost minute by minute. And the Wasco Prison is a site where those changes are forcing action to keep prisoners safe. In a news release by the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, the department stated it now requires "touchless temperature screening" before being allowed inside.     The Wasco Veterinary Clinic is continuing to see patients and fill medications in the midst of a quarantine that has affected the majority of the clinic's staff. On March 19, a woman came in with her animal and had a cough. A day or two later, the customer contacted the vet clinic informing them that she had tested positive for COVID-19.
