    Fred Starrh, longtime farmer and leader in the cotton industry, passed away last week at the age of 89. He passed surrounded by family at his home following a stroke. A Shafter resident since his family made its way to Shafter from Arizona in 1935, Starrh was a leader in the cotton industry, at one time serving as the chairman of Cotton Incorporated.     Over 120 people gathered at Mannel Park on Sunday morning, watching the sun rise and celebrating Easter with a message of faith and hope. Sponsored by the Shafter Kiwanis Club, the event attracted the crowd from many denominations and churches in the area.     Shafter boys Aaron and Micah Neufeld competed in a Ninja Warrior competition held at Freedom in Motion gym in Murrieta recently, and Aaron came home with a second-place medal.
