Shafter held its First Friday event on Sept. 6, attracting hundreds of residents downtown. Despite the heat, the crowd was enthusiastic and enjoyed a variety of offerings at the event. Second to None and the Orange Hearts Foundation sponsored a basketball tournament as part of the Wasco Rose Festival events, held at the Richard Reding Gymnasium at Palm Avenue Middle School.
