The Shafter Recreation Center, along with Dignity Health, held a photo exhibition including its seniors and their different health journeys with the Dignity Health program for seniors. License plate readers recently installed in Shafter led to the arrest, prosecution and conviction of a Shafter man after the theft of a car and the high-speed chase that followed. Arturo Saldivar, Jr., was found guilty of felony evading a peace officer, receipt of stolen property, and driving a vehicle without the consent of the owner. A run/walk event has been added to the slate of events scheduled for the annual Shafter/Wasco Rivalry Week this year. The Shafter Generals football team recovered from a rather slow start and turned it on in the second half on their way to a 50-12 rout of the Edison Tigers.
