ANNOUNCEMENTS

NEW: Pregnancy health -- Bakersfield Pregnancy Center’s Image Clear Ultrasound mobile unit will be in Shafter on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of the month, 2-5 p.m. Located at 341 Central Ave., Shafter (parking lot across from La Fonda). No appointments necessary.

FREE pregnancy test, first-trimester ultrasound, information and resources available.

NEW: Resource fair -- FREE Community Resource Fair Thursday, April 4, 5-7 p.m. at the Activity Center, 300 N. Valley, Shafter. Join for an afternoon full of resources, entertainment and access to community agencies, food and raffles.

NEW: Community Cleanup -- Come drop off your bulky waste, electronic and/or tires at the Community Cleanup April 13, 9 a.,m.-12 noon at Barker Park. Code Compliance will be providing bulky item pick-up services for the first 30 residents who have no means of transporting bulky items to the park. Maximum of 4 items to be picked up. [BEGIN ITAL]You must call to preregister for the pickup service. [END ITAL] No hazardous liquids or substances, construction and demo, green waste or trash will be accepted. NEW: Cop and Car – Kern County Sheriff’s Office, Wasco substation, Coffee with a Cop and Car Exhibit, April 20, 8-10 a.m., at Veterans of Foreign Wars Building, 603 E. St.

BC enrollment -- Bakersfield College is offering Wasco Express Enrollment. Bring high school or adult school transcript if available to 1445 Poso Drive, Wasco, Thursday, April 11, 4-7 p. m. Call 661-758-7414 or 661-720-2024 for information.

Career preparation -- Wonderful Agriculture Career Prep Class of 2023 at Wasco Union High School. Must come to one of the following meetings and bring a parent or guardian. [BEING ITAL]This meeting is mandatory.[END ITAL].

NEW: Art class -- Art 101: Learn how to figure draw or paint landscapes at the Wasco Library. March 25.

Office hours -- Mayor Alex Garcia holds office hours on the second Monday beginning Feb. 11, 3-6 p.m., at 810 8th St.

Rotary Club -- Wasco Rotary Club meets every Monday at the Wasco Recreation Center at noon.

Fishes & Loaves -- Free dinner every first Monday 5-7 p.m. at 408 Griffith Ave.

Adult education -- Enroll for classes at 1445 Poso Drive. High school diploma program, ESL, citizenship and Microsoft Office.

Woman’s Club -- Meeting second Tuesday at noon until May at clubhouse, 1601 7th St.

WUESD -- Wasco Union Elementary School District meets second Tuesday in the board room at 6:30 p.m.

City Council -- Meets first and third Tuesdays at 6 p.m. on 8th Street.

NEW: Knitting -- Got Yarn? Knit, crochet or loom. Join all ages and skill levels on April 10. Bring your own needles and yarn. Wasco Library.

THURSDAY

ACTS Class –-Alcohol and chemical treatment series meets Wednesdays at 7 p.m. at the Sounds of Pentecost, 2000 Palm Ave. Rides are available.

Reading and crafts -- Family story time and crafts 3:30 to 5 p.m. at the Wasco Library.

Family Storytime & Crafts -- 3:30-5 p.m. at the Wasco Library.

SATURDAY

NEW: Art Lessons -- Discover the art world with educational and entertaining art lessons with the Bakersfield Museum of Art on April 10t at the Wasco Library, 4-6 p.m.
