Obituary: Rene Chavez

Rene Daniel Chavez passed away on May 31, 2019 in Shafter. He was born on Dec. 25, 1996 in Bakersfield to Rene Chavez Ortiz and Olga Leticia Rodriguez Nevarez.

Rene grew up in Shafter. He graduated from Shafter High School in 2015. After high school he worked for Central Valley Eggs for three years.

Rene enjoyed spending time with his family, going on trips to the beach, and Coffee Camp at Sequoia National Forest was one of his favorites places to go.

Rene is survived by his parents, Rene Chavez and Olga Rodriguez of Shafter; his sisters, Kenia Chavez and Keyla Chavez of Shafter; his maternal grandmother, Amada Nevarez of Mexicali, Mexico; his paternal grandmother, Evangelina Chavez of Shafter; his niece, which he loved dearly, Zoey Ortega; aunts, Rosa Mendoza, Lupita Chavez, Yaneth Chavez and Cynthia Chavez; and uncles Hugo Chavez and Jose Chavez; along with numerous tias and tios and cousins. Renesito will be missed and forever be in our hearts.

Rene was preceded in death by his grandfathers Jaime Rodriguez and Fermin Chavez, and uncle Jaime Rodriguez Nevarez.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 9, at Basham & Lara Funeral Care Chapel at 5 p.m. with a Rosary at 7 p.m. Funeral service will be on Monday, June 10 at Saint Therese Catholic Church at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at Shafter Cemetery.

The family wants to thank the Shafter community for all of its help and for being with us on this difficult time.
