Stan Wilson, of the Shafter Historical Society, will present “Shafter and the Big
Screen” on June 18 at 6 p.m. at the Shafter Branch Library.
Wilson will detail the theaters in Shafter that once provided local entertainment, a Shafter
schoolgirl who became a Hollywood star, and the filming of the “Great Potato Race,”
which aired on the Mickey Mouse Club in 1956.
