Sky is the limit for local kids at VBS

Shafter Mennonite Brethren Church hosted their annual Vacation Bible School and had a great turn out. The theme this year was "SKY." The kids learned that no matter what is going on in their lives, everything is possible with God. Each day, the children, who were from ages K-6th grade, learned a new Bible verse, as well as rotating to different stations.

One station saw the kids creating a new art project each day. The first day they painted t-shirts that had the SKY theme on it. On Tuesday, the attendees made rainbow windsocks, put together with crepe paper of different colors, as well as cotton balls on the tops.

The kids were treated to snacks each day, After giving them that extra energy to enjoy the high-flying fun. Bible story time saw the staff decorating the room in a variety of scenes, depending on the lesson for the day. Each day took the kids back to Biblical times, giving them a valuable lesson that they can use in their every day lives.

Of course, it wouldn't be VBS without some music with choreography to go with it. A full staff of volunteers makes the Vacation Bible School an adventure that all of the kids can enjoy. At thegGame station, the kids played a variety of games, each of them aimed at building teamwork. One had the kids toss bean bags to each other until they got around the circle and crossed the finish line.

The kids trained to be part of the flight crew that will fly through the sky, with limitless possibilities as they search for the great things that come with loving and trusting God. On Friday, the kids invited their parents for a special session that displays everything that they have learned throughout the week. In addition to the toe-tapping songs, the kids will display their creations made in the Imagination Lab and letting the parents and friends know the verses and lessons that they have done earlier in the week.
