24 hits as teams bang away
Offense was the name of the game Friday night as the Wasco Reserves came out strong and then held on to beat the California City Whiptails, 11-9, at the Ballpark. It was a comback from aanother high-scoring game on Wasco Tribune Night Thursday, where they came out on wrong end of a 9-8 score against the Monterey Amberjacks before over 350 fans.
It was a big night for third-baseman Austin Hoffman, who came up with a home run and four RBIs. L. Jackson also homered, and Ethan Skowronski had four RBIs.
Thanks to strong backing from his teammates at the plate, Alex Hernandez took the win, pitching six innings. Mathew Fountain took the save after taking over for Justin Crider got into a jam in the ninth.
The Reserves are have improved their record to 11-18 in the Pecos League's Pacific Dvision, behind the Bakersfield Train Robbers at 15-14.
Wasco is on the road Saturday night against the Whiptails at 7 p.m. Monday, they return to play the Train Robbers at 7:45 p.m in Bakersfield, then are back in Wasco on the Fourth of July for the first game of a double header at 11 a.m. , then back to Bakersfield at 7 p.m. the same day.
