Reserves end up losing in 31-run game

Despite scoring three runs in each of the last four innings, the Wasco Reserves were unable to outblast the High Desert Yardboards in an 18-13 marathon Sunday afternoon -- and stretching into the evening.

The 4-hour, 20 minute game in Adelanto included 3 homes runs among the 24 total hits. Although he only lasted a little more than an inning, Matt Willimas took the loss, in a game that included 24 walks between the two teams.

Wasco was actually winning going into the fourth inning, but three runs in the bottom of that inning by the Yardbirds, along with seven in the sixth, let it get out of control for the locals.

With Saturday's 13-7 loss in Roswell, the Reserves to are now 14-23, still five games behind Bakersfield for fourth place in the Pecos League's Pacific Division.

Wasco plays the 5-31 California City Whiptails at the Ballpark Monday at 4 p.m, and are back on Thursday at 7 against the Train Robbers.

Friday night:

The Wasco Reserves took the California City Whiptails Friday night at the Ballpark, 10-6.

With three runs in the first inning, the locals got off to strong start, adding five in the fifth. Arton Rank contributed six strong issings for the win.Andfirst baseman Luke Jacksongot his third home run of the season.

Callifornia tried for a comback, with six runs in the 7th and 8th innings, but it wasn't enough.

The wins brings the Reserves to 14-21 for the season, five games behind Bakersfield in the Pcos League's Pacific Division.

Saturday night, Wasco play the Roswell Invaders at the Ballpark at 7:05; Sunday, they are on the road at Adelanto for a 2 p.m. game against the High Desert Yardbirds.
