Golden Oak Elementary and Shafter High School raised $1,972 for the American Red Cross to help the Haiti earthquake victims.

Shafter American Legion Auxiliary nit #213 focused on raising money to build an memorial for veterans of all wars. The memorial is now located at the Shafter Cemetery.
30 years ago: 1990
Junior Girl Scout Troop #604 and Brownie Troop #599 were gearing up to sell their famous Girl Scout cookies. In a photo were Amanda Irving, Jodi Capilla, Desiree Reyna and a few other young ladies.
