Dads dance with stars at Golden Oak

Golden Oak Elementary School was the site for their annual Father/Daughter Dance on Friday night, with over 100 fathers and daughters in attendance. The couples came decked out in their best party wear for a bonding opportunity that included dinner and some great music on the dance floor.

According to Principal Annemarie Mendez, this was one of the most popular events of the school year. "We held the Mother/Son Dance for the first time last year, but the Father/Daughter Dance has been in existence for several years, with it always being a packed house."

The evening started with a dinner that was rated "delicious" by many of the guests. While having dinner, fathers and daughters had an opportunity to get their photo taken on the stage, with masks and crowns among the props.

Once the dancing started, it was time for the daughters to show their dads how it is done as they helped them navigate through a popular dance among the kids today, the Cha Cha Slide line dance. The fathers got into it and were jumping up and down, doing the slide like pros after a few choruses.

There were also a variety of desserts, including truffles, cookies and other candies to finish off the meal and give more energy for the dance floor.
