Shafter High School recognized their Students of the Month recently, with those students named receiving a free lunch and bumper sticker for their vehicles. For a select few, out of this list, they are chosen to be on the Principal's List, which entitles them to a special lunch with Principal Russell Shipley.
Students are nominated by their respective teachers who have noticed the students display outstanding work and work ethic for that month.
Students who were selected are Elijah Marin, Jaquelin Pena Sanchez, Abbie Gallardo, Blythe Barton, Anthony Carillo, Victoria Garza, Faith Bazaldua, Guadalupe Feria, Ashley Hernandez, Maria Juarez, Saray Sanchez, Caitlin Valenzuela, Jacqueline Canales, Addasyn Sylvester, Jonathan Munoz, Alan Rodriguez, Isaac Ortiz, Yaneysse Mejia, Jasmin Zubiate, Vicente Iniguez, Michael Arellano, Fernando Garcia, Jonathan Valenzuela, Kimberly Esparza Veth, Jose Ibarra, Monique Gomez, Olaniyan Tatum, Faustino Jimenez and Jesus Lopez.
Those selected to the Principal's List were Steven Heredia, Arlette Bojorquez, Jonathan Valenzuela and Frijido Garcia.
Not only are the students recognized for their performance on tests, homework and participation in class, but they also are recognized for their outstanding attitudes outside of the classroom. General Pride is something that has become a mainstay in the culture at Shafter High, and these students embody that spirit of living life as a Shafter General.
