Melinda Martinez

Melinda Martinez died March 31, 2020, with her loving husband, Donald Quinonez, at her side.

She was born to Efren and Maria Martinez on Aug. 28, 1975, in Bakersfield. She resided most of her life in Shafter, then later moved to Delano, with her husband. She was preceded in death by father Efren Martinez, mother Maria Martinez, sister Ismelda Gutierrez and son Nicholas Martinez.

She was survived by her husband, Donald Quinonez; son Michael Garcia and his wife, Adrianah Garcia, and daughter Meah; Aliza "Marissa" Gutierrez; Nathan Martinez and his wife, Tracey Martinez, and son Nathan Josiah Martinez; and finally her youngest son, Johnathan Martinez.

Melinda was a very loving, caring women. She loved to cooking different meals. She also enjoyed eating her Kentucky Fried Chicken when she got the chance. She would randomly dance to whatever song that was playing. She was loved by so many people -- her family, her older siblings, Israel Gutierrez Jr., Sylvia Olivo, Alfredo Gutierrez, Hilda Barela, Albert Gutierrez and Cynthia Martinez, who loved and cared for her dearly. Melinda will be greatly missed.

A viewing will be held at Peters Funeral Home, Shafter, on Thursday, April 9, from 2 to 8 p.m. Graveside services at Shafter Cemetery on Friday, April 10, at 10 a.m.
