The city will be putting in two new charging stations in the lot near Highway 43 and 8th Street, said City Manager Daniel Ortiz-Hernandez during the recent City Council meeting.
“The city currently has six electric plugin vehicles,” Mayor Tilo Cortez said. Ortiz-Hernandez mentioned that the city will be seeking applications to fi ll three board positions for the planning commission and the vector control board.
Assistant to the City Manager Mariana Sobolewski told the council that Latino Task Force will be holding another free COVID-19 testing on Sunday, Nov. 22, at 10 a.m. at Fiesta Market on F Street and Poso.
Ortiz-Hernandez touched on the county being dropped to the purple tier. He did say that this time hair salons, barbershops and nail salons are able to stay open while continuing to maintain safe social distancing and the wearing of masks. All restaurants have to cease indoor dining but can continue
with outdoor dining for the moment.
Under public comments, resident Vince Martinez complimented the Kern County Sheriff ’s Offi ce after two family vehicles were struck by a drunk driver while parked. He said the response time was very quick and the deputies were calming, polite and professional.
