May 15, 1943 -- June 3, 2021
On Thursday, June 3, 2021, Jewel (Armstrong) Lytle, wife of Gene Lytle for 61 years, passed away at the age of 78.
Jewel was born in Steele, Missouri, on May 15, 1943 to Charlie and Lucy Armstrong.
She moved with her family to California in 1957 and attended Shafter High School. She married Gene Lytle in 1959.
Jewel was a full time homemaker and mother to Teresa Jewel and Garland Eugene.
In 1972, Jewel surrendered her life to the love and grace of Jesus Christ and the power of the Holy Spirit. She then devoted her life to loving and caring for her family. She thanked God every day for His forgiveness. One of her greatest gifts from God was an extra bonus daughter, Renae Lawerence, in 1981.
Jewel was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Lucy Armstrong and all of her Armstrong siblings: Leo, Cecil, Janie Link, Garland, Clara Preston, Clyde, Maudie Graves, Gene and Leslie.
She is survived by her loving husband, Gene Lytle, and their children's families: Teresa (Lytle) Sharp, her husband Lenny, daughter and son in law Tara and Ryker Block, son and daughter in law Austin and Sarah Sharp and their two daughters, Skylar and Luna Jewel; Eugene and his wife, Kindra, and their children, Connor and Kaylee Lytle; Renae Kloeppel and her husband, Brad, and Renae's children Joshua Porter and his children Noah, Isabella and Ariel; Gerry Porter and Sara Jewel Porter; several nieces and nephews; and sibling's spouses, cousins and dear friends.
Graveside service will be Wednesday, June 9, at the Shafter Cemetery, 18662 Santa Fe Way.
In lieu of flowers you can honor Jewel by donating to one of the ministries that were so dear to her heart: Prison Fellowship, Teen Challenge or Bakersfield Pregnancy Center.
