S.T.E.A.M/ S.T.E.M program — Will be at 3 p.m. at the Wasco Library, 1102 7th St.

Teen night — Join other teens in a night of creativity and fun on Oct. 18 at 4 p.m. at the Wasco Library, 1102 7th St.

Family game night — There will be a family game night Oct. 25 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Wasco Library, 1102 7th St.

Tuesday

Senior lunch program — The senior sack program gives out lunches to seniors every first and third Tuesday of the month at 11 a.m., sponsored by the Golden Gleaners. Griffith Avenue Baptist Church, 408 Griffith St., Wasco.

Thursday

Historical Society Annual Meeting — Dr. Mike McCoy Executive Director of the Kern County Museum will be the speaker at the Shafter Historical Society Annual Meeting on Oct. 21. The meeting will be held at the Shafter Learning Center, 236 James St., and will commence at 7 p.m. His topic will be Liquid Fire; Preserving Iconic Neon Signs. All are invited.

Wasco Recreation & Park Board — Meetings are on every 3rd Thursday of the month at 6 p.m. at the Hall at Barker Park, Wasco.

Truth ministries — Truth Ministries: A Faith Based 12-Step Program providing fellowship recovery will be held on Thursday nights from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Shafter Mennonite Brethren Church, 400 Kern St. The program begins on Feb. 25. Call 661-746-4969 for more information.

Diabetes Undone Program will be hosting 8 sessions on Thursday evenings from 6:30 to 8 p.m. The cost of the workshop is $99 and includes the participant kit. Shafter-Bulky Waste Collection Event — Saturday, Oct. 16 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Shafter Aquatic Center 269 Poso Ave. Free drive-in and drop off your unwanted household items: home appliances, mattresses, furniture, water heaters and T.V.’s and E-waste. Residential Waste ONLY.

Depot museum — The Shafter Depot Museum will be open every Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Depot is located at 150 Central Valley Highway.
