Obituary: Joye Ann Carroll

Joye Ann Carroll was born on July 29, 1941, in Shafter to Obie and Lorene Hamlin. She joined her sister Leona and brother Obie. Eleven years later Yvonne would complete their family.

Joye graduated from Shafter High in 1959. The following year she married her soulmate Eldon Carroll (aka Piute Pete). On April 5, 1964, they welcomed their only child, Stacy Lorene. Stacy gave them four granddaughters: Megan and husband Ryan, and son Logan; Kayla and husband Elliot, and son Conner and daughters Aurora and Freya; Sarah and son Andrew and daughter Haley; and Brooke and son Sammy.

She had a long career at Shafter High School. She filled many positions, and everything had to be perfect. She loved the friends she worked with, along with the students that attended during the 30-plus years of her career.

She leaves behind her daughter Stacy and husband Scott, along with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and her siblings, nieces, nephews and many cousins.

The family is planning a service at a later date, so family from out of state can come. In lieu of flowers, the family asks in Joye’s memory donations to Marley’s Mutts; if you knew Joye then you know how much this would mean to her.
