NEW: The Wasco Rose Festival and Orange Heart Foundation are hosting the Wasco Christmas Parade and tree lighting ceremony on Sat. Dec. 11. The parade begins at 6 p.m. on 7 th St. and Broadway and ends at Poplar Ave. The Tree Lighting follows the parade in front of the Wasco High School Auditorium.

NEW: Wasco: Toys for Tigers, Christmas Tree Spectacular $5 fee for entry. Wasco Veterans Hall at Barker Park 1200 Poplar Ave. Cookie decorating games, crafts and face painting.

NEW: Minter Field Air Museum: Free Admission. Santa Claus is flying, arrives at 11 a.m.! Sat. Dec. 4. Stuffed animal giveaway courtesy of Ming Ave. Petsmart.

NEW: Shafter Lions Club Christmas Parade 2021 will be Dec. 3. The parade will start at 6:30 p.m. in downtown Shafter. Registration begins at 5:30 p.m.

NEW: Shafter Women’s Club Christmas for Shafter Seniors 2021 is looking for donations to benefit our local seniors at: Seniors in Shafter, Shafter Convalescent Hospital, Carrington Senior Living Home and Walker Senior Center. There is a need for Depends, lip balm, and tissue: boxes and packs, Hand lotions/creams, stress balls, lap blankets, shampoo/toiletries, fingernail files, stamps, Brain Game Jumbo Books, homemade cards, and greeting cards. Donations may be dropped at Shafter Youth Center, 455 Euclid Ave. by Dec. 1.

Wasco Branch Library is in partnership with NO Kid Hungry and the Kern County Superintendent of Schools in offering free meals and space to do homework.

TUESDAY

Senior Lunch Program--Every 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month: Griffith Avenue Baptist Church Baptist Church, 408 Griffith St., will be giving senior sack program lunches out at 11 a.m. Sponsored by Golden Gleaners.

THURSDAY

Wasco Recreation & Park Board meetings are on every third Thursday of the month at 6 p.m. at the Hall at Barker Park in Wasco.

Truth Ministries: A faith-based 12-step program. Providing fellowship recovery. Thursday, Nights 7-8 p.m. at the Shafter Mennonite Brethren Church, 400 Kern St., 661-746- 4969, starts Feb. 25.

FRIDAY

Food giveaway —The Impact Program is a weekly good giveaway provided to anyone in need, Fridays beginning at 7 a.m. First come, first serve. Griffith Avenue Baptist Church, 408 Griffith St., Wasco.

SATURDAY

The Shafter Depot Museum is open every Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The museum is located at 150 Central Valley Highway.
