Serving the community since 1922
The students at Golden Oak Elementary School are highlighted this month in the Richland School District Spotlight.
Fifteen students were chosen at random from a group of Golden Oak students who had a perfect attendance record for the quarter. They were chosen to a "Lunch on the Stage," getting a chance to dine with staff on the stage of the cafeteria.
This was a blast for students, among them Alexa, a third grader, who said, "This is the best day of my life!"
This event was such a hit that it is going to be repeated in the coming quarters.
The school also received a visit from the award-winning Richland Trojan Marching Band, who performed for the students, playing as a group, and also with a few solos.
Another highlight for students at Golden Oak is the big oak tree that is on the campus. This time of year, the students have a wonderful time playing in the falling leaves, as well as making leaf angels, and "making it rain," gives the students a great chance to have fun on campus. As the students say, "Just one of the joys of being here at Golden Oak!"
