Information sought in fatal hit and run

The Shafter Police Department is asking for information regarding a fatal hit and run incident that occurred Tuesday evening.

At approximately 6 p.m., police responded to the accident on Shafter Avenue between Riverside and Elizabeth streets. Upon arriving, the officers learned that Jesus Eusebio Sanchez, 33, of Shafter, was struck by a vehicle while walking in the roadway.

The driver fled the scene after the collision, police said. Sanchez later succumbed to his injuries.
