Toni DeRosa. the long-time writer and editor for the Wasco Tribune, was celebrated Tuesday night at the City Council meeting for her contributions empowering and bringing critical information to the community.
A certificate of recognition from the City of Wasco was proudly presented by Mayor Gilberto Reyna to DeRosa, acknowledging her outstanding achievements in journalism while with the Tribune. "Thank you for your many years of dedicated service to the city of Wasco," he told her.
Mayor Pro Tem John P. Pallares also spoke highly of DeRosa. "It is with profound sadness that you will be leaving the newspaper, but I am also joyous for you, and I appreciate not only your editorials or your stories but your kindness throughout all of the events we have attended together. It has always been a pleasure being in your presence."
And from Council Member Vincent R. Martinez: "It has been an honor working alongside you. It is so nice to meet a journalist that cares about the community and is honest and trustworthy. We will greatly miss you and your contributions."
DeRosa was emotional in her response.
"I have loved my time in Wasco. It was the first city where I started my career in journalism in 2005. Now I am retiring at 72 and am ready to start a new journey," she said..
