Obituary: Misty Gale Medina

Misty Gale Medina, 44, passed away on Feb. 2, 2022 at the Heart Hospital in Bakersfield. She was born on April 6, 1977 in Bakersfield, to Leon Whygle and Linda Barton. Misty grew up in Shafter and attended Shafter High School.

Misty married Jose Medina in 2006 in Shafter and was happily married for 15 years and a stay at home mom. She enjoyed taking long road trips to Pismo Beach and camping with her family and friends. She also enjoyed going with her husband to casinos and she loved money but most of all she loved helping people. Misty had a big heart for everyone. Her favorite holiday was Christmas and she was a big giver at that time of the year.

Misty is survived by her spouse Jose, oldest daughter Lilly Whygle, daughter Peyton Medina, son Jayden Medina and son James Matthews all of Shafter, sister Mary, sister Tammy Gonzalezs, brother Earl Whygle, one grandson age 10 months Zavier Altamirano, nieces and nephews Michael, Austin, Johnny, Johna, Earl Jr. and great nieces and nephews whom she adored. Misty was preceded in death by her mom Linda Barton, grandma Pearl Barton, nephew Michael Gonzalezs and many aunts and uncles.

Visitation will be held at Basham & Lara Funeral Care, 343 State Ave, Shafter 5 p.m. – 9 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 14, 2022. A funeral service will be held at Basham & Lara Funeral Care on Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2022 at noon and interment will be at the Shafter Cemetery.
