Obituary: Timothy John Powell

Timothy John Powell went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Jan. 29, 2022.

Tim was born Nov. 15, 1951 in Bakersfield.

He was a steadfast man who loved the Lord, his family, church, and community. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Tim was a partner in Brannen & Powell for over 40 years where he genuinely cared for each and every one of his clients. He served as a Planning Commissioner for the city of Shafter from 1984 to 1992, and was a member of the Shafter Kiwanis for many years. Tim loved his church family of Grace Bible Church in Bakersfield where he faithfully served as an elder.

Tim was never without a smile and was quick to pray for anyone. He truly had a servant's heart and demonstrated his love for everyone he knew in his thoughtful acts of service and kindness. Tim was constantly in awe of the beauty of God's creation and handiwork, with a special place in his heart for Bryce Canyon National Park. Tim always marveled that the God of creation loved and cared enough for him to offer him eternal salvation. We deeply miss his quiet gentleness and his warm sense of humor and mourn for his grandchildren who will grow up without his crazy antics and godly example.

He was preceded in death by his parents Melvin and Karen Powell. He is survived by his wife Monica, children Amanda Ortman and her husband Lang, Aaron Powell and his wife Crystal, April Moore and her husband Jon, eight grandchildren, brother Phil Powell and his wife Donna, and sister Melody Taylor and her husband Peter.

A memorial service will be held on Feb. 12, 2022 at 11 a.m. at Grace Bible Church of Bakersfield, 5207 Young St,, Bakersfield, CA 93311, followed by a meal. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Grace Bible Church building fund.
