Guera's a good place to round up styles

Guera's Western Wear is ahead of the game when it comes to fashion. Offering a boutique shopping experience that delivers high-quality western-themed clothing, shoes and other items, their selection is vast and affordable.

Owner Miriam Valenzuela said she grew up on a ranch and really enjoyed attending local rodeos.

"I was raised wearing cowboy boots and hats. I just love the western fashions."

She has lived her whole life in Wasco and opened her store because she wanted to provide something the community was missing.

"There is no other store in Wasco like ours that sells such a large variety of western wear."

The boutique sells stylish cowboy belts and durable boots for men, women and kids.

"We cater to local farmers and agricultural workers that need steel-toed boots to stay safe," she said.

Leather boots range from $70 to $140 and $300 to $500 for luxury brands.

"We have a boot to fit any customer's price range. I believe you can't beat our prices for the caliber we deliver," Valenzuela said.

There are also all types of Wrangler clothing, including boot-cut jeans and shirts with many options of prints and colors.

Other western-themed items sold are rodeo and cattleman hats, jewelry, shoes and unique handbags.

The store was originally launched in 2020, when it was inside Tropicana Market, before moving to its current location in November.

"What I am most proud of is that we were able to expand and open our own storefront, which is more accessible to our clients."

Their customer service stands out.

"I take great pleasure in working with our clients, helping them find just what they are looking for. With rodeo season, everyone wants to look their best," she said.

"Our focus is on client satisfaction and hospitality. I believe that is what keeps them happy and coming back. We also have many regulars that tell us they look forward to our weekly new inventory."

The Guera team is bilingual.

"There is such a large Latino population in Wasco. This allows us to help everybody who walks in."

They plan to incorporate boot polishing and repairs and hat shaping in the future.

"You can find our specials on our social media pages. Also, if we don't have an item you want, we can easily source it, which usually only takes 1-3 days to arrive."
