Serving the community since 1922
Since 1991, Rosie's Cakes & Cookies has been serving up delicious treats. Prepared daily and using family recipes, owner Rosa Gonzalez brings her love and passion to the art of baking.
A bakery specialty is its unique sugar cookies in all different shapes, such as happy faces and unicorns.
A local jewel is her cakes, the most popular one being Pink Champagne, which has a strawberry filling.
"We use whipped cream because it is lighter and has fewer calories," said Gonzalez.
There are a variety of cupcakes in many flavors. The lemon bar is refreshing, and her peanut butter, strawberry and oreo cookie bars crowd favorites.
Her signature cookies include chocolate chip, snickerdoodle, oatmeal and walnut.
She also sells banana cake, which is a big hit, and jello cups with fruit on top in many flavors.
Fun items are available for purchase, including stuffed unicorns and bears, Disney character toys, Star Wars action figures, and cars and trucks for children. Gonzalez also makes candy leis for graduations.
Rosie's has a long history of loyal clients.
"They used to come in their strollers, and now they are adults bringing their children," said Gonzalez.
"Some leave for college and come back to buy cookies to take back to their dorms. When they are on vacation, they shop with us. Kids come and buy cookies from us when school lets out."
Her cakes and cookies are made for all occasions, including birthdays, anniversaries, Mother's and Father's Day, Easter, baptisms, quinceaneras and weddings.
"We work with any celebration," said Gonzalez.
To accommodate for the busy demand, there is a staff of six people.
"Some of them have been with me for 20 to 30 years. It is exciting to see everyone working together to create our special desserts."
She is proud of their customer service.
"We are friendly and strive to provide the best customer service, and that, along with the quality of our cakes and cookies, keeps them coming back."
Gonzalez was born and raised in Wasco and wanted to launch her business in her hometown.
"The community has treated me well. Everyone is very sweet and nice. I appreciate their support," said Gonzalez.
