Rosa Romero, superintendent of the Richland School District, was recently named an honoree of the Latinas Lead the Way of Kern County for 2022. Romero has been leading the Richland School District for years now, with her outstanding leadership qualities that make this honor one that is well deserved.
The awards and dinner banquet is LLKC's annual fundraising event, honoring local outstanding Latina professionals in Kern County. The group also salutes and supports its Youth Leadership Program during this event.
Women honored with the awards are selected for their exceptional professionalism, chievements and commitment to the community.
Romero began her educational career in 1989 as a teacher in the Richland School District. She taught for five years before beginning her career in administration.
Romero served at several different positions, including being head of the Migrant Program, director of curriculum and instruction, principal of Redwood Elementary School.
Romero said that she has a heart for the kids of Richland and they are always foremost in her mind. "Serving this district has been a great joy, and this honor is just icing on the cake," said Romero.
LLKC highlights the achievements of local Latinas, andtries to build acknowledgement of their contributions to Kern County.
In their award announcement, LLKC said, "Rosa continues to be a pillar of the community as a mentor and advocate for Latinas in Kern County and beyond. We are honored to celebrate her accomplishments and impact at this year's event."
