SHS welcomes new teachers, administrators

Shafter High has its share of new staff and administrators this year.

Jennifer Webb joins Principal Russell Shipley as assistant principal of administration. Valerie Labrentz returns as assistant principal of instruction.

Shipley said that he is excited to be adding several new talented teachers to the staff, giving them a great core to enrich the students' lives in and out of the classroom. "We have a great staff here at Shafter High, with some students returning as teachers, as well as picking up some experienced teachers from all over Kern County making the move to be Generals."

Denise Bentle has joined the team as an English teacher, with Angel Trujillo teaching social studies. Jami Carrasco, a Shafter native and SHS graduate, has been added to the special education team at Shafter High.

In the English department, in addition to Bentle, SHS has added Ismael Corrales to round out the team.

Also joining the social studies department is Chase Mears. Gemma Trujillo and Lauren Borrero were hired in the math and English departments, respectively.

Rounding out the administration team are Bobby Hinzo, dean of student behavior and support,

"Shafter is known as a desirable location to work, with the wonderful opportunities in the classroom and the support that the community shows us year after year," Shipley said.
