Lila Eloise Forney was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She left this world on Sept. 19, 2022, at age 89.
Lila was born to Joseph and Alva Gray on Dec. 18, 1932, in Oklahoma and lived most of her life in Wasco with her husband, Lonnie Dean Forney.
Together they raised four children: Gary, Rodney, Kevin and Randall.
Lila worked as an office manager for Wasco Union High School and retired after 37 years. She loved spending time with her family, including her 10 grandchildren and three great grandchildren, as well as her many nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends. Her hobbies included reading, gardening, needlepoint, and she loved all the special places she and her husband were able to visit.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Dean Forney; her four sisters, Evelyn, Ellen, Ruth and Etna; her three brothers, J.B., Buel, and Darrel; and her beloved nephew, Haskell Peaker. She is survived by her four sons: Gary and wife Carol, of Roseville; Rodney, of Prescott, Ariz.; Kevin and wife Lori of Bakersfield; Randall and wife Natalie of Saugus; 10 grandchildren and great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends who love and miss her.
A funeral service is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 29, at 11 a.m. at the Olive Branch Community Church in Bakersfield. Interment in the National Cemetery will follow at 1:15 p.m.
