Serving the community since 1922
Nov. 4, 1938 – Aug. 2, 2023
Irene Arreola Perales, 84, passed away on Aug. 2, 2023, after she suffered a stroke earlier in the year. She passed away peacefully into the arms of Jesus surrounded by her loving family.
Irene was born on Nov. 4, 1938, in Shafter, to Alice (Herrera) and Felix Arreola. Irene had five siblings. She grew up in La Colonia in Shafter. She always said small-town living and having family was the best. She was a dedicated mother, one of a kind.
Irene was a Girl Scout and Boy Scout leader, and an active member of the Richland Schools PTA. She made sure she attended every single event her kids had at school. She attended every sports event, cheering for her kids on the sideline. Her biggest joy was becoming a grandma. She learned how to crochet the moment she found out she was going to become a grandma. She was able to bless all her grandchildren and family with a crochet blanket made from love.
In later years she enjoyed traveling, shopping and, of course, playing her slot machines at the casinos. Irene was known for her generous heart, outrageous personality, her profound love for family and friends, and was always selfless.
Irene leaves behind her sons David and wife Karen, Daniel and wife Patricia and daughter Dana Marie, and son in law Carl Lamirand, 11 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren, three sisters and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Monica Lamirand, granddaughter Tara Dawn Perales, parents Alice (Herrera) and Felix Arreola, and brothers Tony and Rudy Arreola.
Thank you to Hoffman Hospice, family and friends for being there for us during this difficult time.
