Serving the community since 1922
The Wasco Elks Lodge Blaine Willard Memorial Car Show is this Saturday, Oct. 7, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The categories are open class, under construction and motorcycle.
It will be a festive event in honor of Blaine Willard, a long-time devoted lodge member.
"He was a member of good standing. If we needed something, he was always there to help us. He was always so supportive of our car show," Trustee Jerry Bozarth said.
DJ Boom Dog will provide music. Guests can enjoy a beer garden, bloody mary bar, food, craft vendors, a silent auction and raffles.
There also will be a cornhole tournament sponsored by the Orange Heart Foundation. The event will be held at the Wasco Elks Lodge.
"It will be a great afternoon for the whole family with something for everybody. Whether you are a car enthusiast or just someone who wants to support our club, it will be full of entertainment," Bozarth said.
The Wasco Elks are a group of dedicated community activists with a rich history of giving back to the community. In line with all of their fundraisers, money from this event will be used to support youth activities and veterans.
"Our involvement in working to empower our residents of Wasco and Shafter is important to us. We appreciate everyone that comes out every year. We've been holding the car show for almost ten years."
Exalted Ruler Sergio Garza said the lodge extends a warm invitation to the communities of Kern County.
"Come out for a fun time while helping us to make Wasco a better place for everyone and, at the same time, enjoying all of the nice cars that will be on display."
