The Wasco High Tigers football team lost their SSL contest to the Kennedy Thunderbirds of Delano on Friday night, 42-0. The game had a running clock for the majority of the second half. Quarterback David Manzo and company couldn’t get anything going on the offensive side for Wasco, failing to take advantage of a couple of opportunities to score.
The Kennedy defense dominated the line of scrimmage, denying the Tigers any chance for substantial drives in the game.
The Kennedy offense, led by quarterback Miguel Ayon, had a big game, gaining over 400 yards in total offense, including three touchdown passes, two of which were for over 50 yards each.
The Tigers will try to up their record to 2-1 in the SSL on Friday night, going up against the Titans of Delano’s Chavez High School.
With the double-wing offense of the Tigers, Wasco will look to exploit the vulnerability of the Titans’ secondary, as well as keeping their running game getting big chunks of yardage on the ground. The junior varsity game will start at 5 p.m., with the varsity kicking off at 7:30 p.m.
