Serving the community since 1922
The Shafter Kiwanis Club held its annual Harvest Festival on Tuesday night, giving the entire community a chance to have a safe and fun holiday.
There were numerous vendors on hand selling a great variety of food, including tacos, burritos, funnel cakes, kettle corn and more.
There was not a parade this year, but all of the children who dressed up were invited to walk across the stage, giving their name and the costume that they were wearing.
Everything from a fairy princess to Pennywise the Clown were at Mannel Park for the festivities. One of the more popular costumes at this year's event was Wednesday Addams, with Avery Sandoval being one. Sandoval had the popular teen character down to a tee, from the trademark braids to the gothic attire.
Also at the event were several organizations that were sponsoring different games that children could play, including a putting green, ball toss and cornhole. Shafter Recreation and Parks District had a booth, along with Missionary Baptist Church and the Kiwanis Club, among many others. A large crowd filled Mannel Park for the event.
