Shooting reported at Veterans Park

The Shafter Police Department is asking the public for information regarding a shooting incident that took place at Veterans Park on Thursday night, Nov. 30, at approximately 9:43p.m.

Officers were dispatched that night to the neighborhood adjacent to the park regarding a report of shots being fired in the area. When officers arrived, no suspects or victims of any shooting were found.

A short time later, the police received information that a 19-year-old man was reported to be shot at the park, 500 West Los Angeles Ave., at about the same time officers had responded earlier to the area.

The victim received a non-life-threatening gunshot wound and received treatment at a nearby medical facility.According to Capt. Randy Milligan, the victim received a wound to his hand.

Witnesses reported that there were two to three suspects involved in the shooting, and they drove away from the area in an unidentified vehicle.
