A holiday expedition through dazzling Christmas homes

The Wasco Recreation and Parks District hosted its second annual "Light up Wasco Community Cruise" and dazzled residents with a tour of over 23 homes decorated with Christmas holiday themes.

Santa Claus came, the Gingerbread Men were there for photos, and cookies and hot cocoa were a part of the occasion.

Some rode in the Dial-a-Ride bus, while others followed in a caravan of cars as they followed the route throughout town to the brightly and colorfully lit houses with twinkling lights, whimsical ornaments and an abundance of seasonal cheer.

Evelyn Murillo thought it was an excellent event "to go around with your family to see the Christmas spirit in Wasco. There were some beautiful homes."

Juana Garcia said you didn't have to go far to feel the spirit. "It fills my heart to see so many decorated homes. It was great that they organized this. I loved it."

It was Emilio Limon's second time attending. "There's a lot more than last year. Some of the houses are creative. I like that it's becoming a community tradition."

He said his favorite part was the extravagant houses. "They stood out with the bright, colorful lights and the ones that made good use of their space."

Martha Figueroa said she liked the tour. She said of those who decorated their homes, "You got to show your personality. Everyone had their own twist to it. That is what made it unique."

Miguel Vera dressed up as the Grinch and was one of the participants who decorated his home. "We went all out this year. We did many more Christmas lights and bought the Grinch suit this year to take it one step further. We wanted to be part of the Wasco community."

Councilman Gilberto Reyna attended. "It was a fantastic opportunity to see the stunning decorations and sparkling lights adorning the homes of many Wasco residents. This event truly captures the festive energy of the holiday season and is an excellent option to enjoy some quality time with family and friends."

Bus driver Mayra Medina guided the tour. "Each year, little by little, we're growing. More people are participating. My favorite part is seeing the kid's faces light up. They're so amused with all the lights and houses participating."

WRPD Manager Chris Serna said, "It was a fantastic turnout. It was amazing to see so many enjoying the tour."

"A highlight was the excitement of those riding the Dial-a-Ride bus and those driving behind in their cars. It was joyful."
