Serving the community since 1922
Nov. 8, 1941 – Feb. 11, 2024
Eldalene Maurine Peters was born in Bakersfield on Nov. 8, 1941, to Richard H. and Ethel E. Douglas of Wasco. She married Glenn G. Peters, the love of her life, on July 29, 1967; they shared 44 years together.
Eldalene (Mom) attended Wasco elementary schools and graduated from Wasco Union High School in 1959. Mom also attended business classes at Bakersfield College and Delano Business School.
After schooling, Mom went to work at Security Bank, Bank of America and various positions for the cities of Wasco and Shafter. Also, we can't forget, the Shafter Chamber of Commerce honored her with the Humanitarian Award in 2006. What an honor! Her most rewarding position came when she worked at the Shafter Cemetery for 23 years, which was really a blessing, as she wanted to share God's love with grieving families. Mom became a Christian in 1959.
Mom always taught her children to love and serve Jesus first, others second and yourself last, and we would have true JOY. Mom taught Sunday school for many years. We couldn't have had a better mama. At the time of her passing, Mom attended Celebration Church of the Northwest in Bakersfield, with Pastors Mark and Kim Roberts.
Eldalene was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Ethel Douglas; her husband (our daddy), Glenn Peters (Feb. 28, 2012); and their daughter, Connie. She leaves behind her children, Joe Peters and Alicia (Charles) Adams; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; her sister, Nelda (Jesse) Cabrera; a brother, Richard Douglas; and numerous nieces, nephews and wonderful friends.
We want to thank the Shafter Cemetery, Denny Carender, Andy Alvidrez (retired), Tim Unruh (retired), Lisa Caudillo and the whole crew for being so kind and compassionate to Mom. They always looked out for her. Also, a big thanks to Carrington of Shafter, Alicia and the whole staff. In the short time Mom was there, they showed her so much love. I would like to thank Hoffmann Hospice and Nurse Maryann, our angel on earth, for everything they did to help Mom stay comfortable and dignified in her final days.
Mom passed away Feb. 11, 2024. A visitation will be held at Peters Funeral Home, Shafter, on Friday, Feb. 23, from 4 to 8 p.m. A graveside service will be held at Shafter Memorial Park on Saturday, Feb. 24, at 10 a.m.
Mom will truly be missed, always loved, and never forgotten.
Joe & Alicia
