At prom, Generals have a night to remember

Shafter High students put on formal best and had a night to remember on Saturday night, as they celebrated their prom, dancing to some of their favorite music.

A DJ provided the tunes, a mixture of dance, Tejano and contemporary music, something for everyone.

Students danced with their dates, by themselves, and in big groups, keeping the dance floor busy the entire night. One group who were having a blast were friends Riley Griffin, Marcus Rivas, Adrian Lomeli, Briley Clendeman and Arilia Schialabba.

There also was a line for the photo station, with a machine set up that allowed the students to use a computerized device that took their pictures without a photographer, giving them freedom to pose for a variety of pictures.

There were plenty of snacks for the attendees in a room stocked with chips, pork rinds, candy, pretzels, and salsa, as well as different kinds of cookies. The night was the culmination of hard work by the staff at Shafter High, as well as the Associtted Student Body government students, and the hospitality at the Bakersfield Woman's Club, where the event was held.

The event also included the traditional naming of the Prom King and Queen, Fabian Denogean and Janelle Buenrostro.
