Cheryl Annette Mason, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on Aug. 11, 2024, at the age of 57, after a courageous battle with colon cancer. Born on Dec. 22, 1966, in Bakersfield, and raised in Shafter, Cheryl was the beloved daughter of Jerry Clinton Taylor and Linda Sue Taylor and was the middle child among her siblings, William Scott Taylor and Jason Clinton Taylor.
Cheryl Annette Mason was married to David Conrad Mason, with whom she shared many years of love and partnership. She devoted her life to her family, including her four children, Natalie, Ashley, Whitney and Noah, 13 grandchildren, and one great-grandson. Her professional career as a correctional officer in Tehachapi was marked by her dedication and integrity.
Cheryl's boundless energy, infectious laugh and generous spirit touched everyone who knew her. She is now at peace, joining her father, Jerry Clinton Taylor, and her daughter, Ashley Nicole Heriford, in heaven. Her passing leaves a profound void in the lives of her family and friends, who will forever treasure her memory and the lessons she imparted.
Viewing will be held at Peters Funeral Home on Thursday, Aug. 22, 2024, at 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. with the funeral service beginning at 1 p.m., followed by a burial at Shafter Cemetery at 2 p.m. A celebration of Cheryl's life will take place at Tin Cup from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Cheryl Mason will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
