Serving the community since 1922
June 25, 1957 – Aug. 25, 2024
In celebration of a life well-lived and love generously given, we honor Maria Francisca Espericueta, known to all as Frances. Born in Weslaco, Texas, on June 25, 1957, Frances passed away unexpectedly on Aug. 25, 2024, in Bakersfield.
Frances was the heart of her family, embodying Proverbs 31 throughout her 48 years of marriage to LeRoy. A devoted wife, mother of five - Eli, Beatris, Leia, Priscilla and Lucas - and grandmother to eight cherished grandchildren, she instilled love and service in all her family.
Raised in a migrant farm labor family, Frances's resilience and creativity were evident in everything she did. Her kitchen was a place of warmth, where she prepared beloved dishes such as her renowned turkey tamales, each infused with her love.
Her faith and volunteer work were the core of her life, serving others with a generous heart. Though her time with us has ended, her legacy of love and service will continue to inspire. Survived by her husband, children and grandchildren, Frances's memory will always be the sweetness that binds her family together.
The wake will be held at Valley Bible Church in Shafter on Thursday, Aug. 29, from 5 to 8 p.m. The funeral service will follow on Friday, Aug. 30, at 10 a.m., also at Valley Bible Church.
