Pageant, parade highlight Annual Rose Festival

Get ready for a weekend of festive fun at the Rose Festival!

The excitement begins with the Miss Wasco Rose Queen Pageant, where the community's most graceful and talented young women will compete for the coveted crown. On Friday, immerse yourself in joyful celebration and recognition at the Wasco Elk Ladies' Evening of Wine and Roses-an event that promises a delightful blend of fine wines and special moments.

Saturday is packed with activities, starting with the Color Blast Fun Run, an exciting and energetic way to kick off the day. Enjoy a hearty Pancake Breakfast before catching the Rose Festival Parade, where the streets will come alive with floats, bands and cheer. Explore the Wasco Historical Museum during its Open House, then head over to Barker Park for the Wasco Rose Festival featuring food vendors, live music, a car show and an art show. Cap off the day with a delicious Drive-Thru Deep Pit Dinner and try your luck at Casino Night. And don't miss the Men's Basketball Tournament, heating up the courts all weekend!

Thursday, Sept. 5

--Miss Wasco Rose Queen Pageant, Wasco Union High School Auditorium, 6 p.m.

Friday, Sept. 6

--Wasco Elk Ladies Present An Evening of Wine and Roses Honored Guest Reception, Wasco Elks Lodge, 6-10 p.m.

--2nd to None and Orange Heart Foundation Men’s Basketball Tournament, Richard Reding Gym, Palm Avenue Middle School (continues through Sunday)

Saturday, Sept. 7

--Color Blast Fun Run presented by Wasco Recreation and Parks District, Barker Park, 7:30-9:30 a.m.

--Pancake Breakfast, North Kern Christian School, 7-10 a.m.

--Wasco Rose Festival Parade, 7th and D streets to Poplar, ending at Barker Park, 10 a.m.

--Wasco Historical Museum open house, 918 6th St., 11 a.m.-1 p.m.

--Vendors and DJ Nonsense Stinks with special guests, live music, car show, WUHSD Art Show, Barker Park, 11 a.m.-5 p.m.

--Block and Tackle drive-thru deep pit dinner, Wasco High School parking lot off Poplar, 1-5 p.m.

--Casino Night, Wasco Elks Lodge 2419, 6:30-9:30 p.m.
