Shafter High's 1984 Homecoming Queen candidates were Jennifer Anderson, Michele Delozier, Stephanie Dobbs Sheila Wells and Jennifer Dobbs.

Ray Wiley was named Kern County's Teacher of the Year. Wiley taught Mexican history and earth science for eighth graders at Richland Junior High.
