The Falcon Closet opens at WIHS

Wasco Independence High School celebrated the grand opening of The Falcon Closet recently with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Thanks to a $5,000 community grant from Kern Family Health Care, this long-awaited project became a reality.

The Falcon Closet was created to address a critical need within the student community by providing free access to essential items such as clothing, personal hygiene products and household supplies. WIHS staff recognized that students' success is often hindered by a lack of basic necessities, and this initiative aims to remove those barriers. By meeting these fundamental needs, the school hopes to enhance students' physical and mental well-being.

The community is encouraged to support The Falcon Closet to ensure its continued success. Monetary donations are greatly appreciated and can be dropped off at the Wasco Union High School District office, 2100 7th St.. For questions, contact Vianney Gonzalez at ‭661-758-7450‬. Please include "The Falcon Closet" in the memo line of checks or money orders.

"Together, we can make a difference in the lives of students in need," school counselor Vianney Gonzalez said.
